Since today you might have experienced a offline Newsoo website and connection time-outs with the Usenet services of Newsoo.

Why closing Newsoo

Today, 23 march 2016, the federal police of strasbourg (France), took Cedric in custody and ceased all the equipment and website  as effective immediately.
The company  did got many attention because they did not have a ‘correct’ NTD/DMCA policy, much material was available on their servers. Newsoo got major popularity on Reddit due to his transparency, he updated his twitter account always with the newest info about new hardware, networks updates etc.

A recent court decision entitled Newsoo as a software program for Usenet and not a Tier 1 Usenet Provider.
Usenetprovider Newsoo has to stop, and he will never go further with Usenet.

On social media people are a little bit scared, because the French Police seized all the equipment (servers) and therefore also the software. As a Tier-1 Usenet provider he probably got enough logs and also ofcourse the customer database and if the police can connect the dots (customer->downloadlog) it could be a major issue for the customers of ex Usenet Provider Newsoo,  depending if any ‘real’ data is stored.
